LAKE PLACID — The team concept proved stronger than a single individual in Thursday night's game between Lake Placid and Clewiston. Led by Ashley Paeplow's team-high 12 points, the Green Dragons placed three players in double figures and held on for a 44-43 win over the Tigers in girls basketball. Clewiston's Desiree Lopez was a one-girl scoring machine as she poured in 32 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, but Lake Placid's offensive balance proved to be the difference. "We needed a win, and I was just going on adrenaline," said Paeplow. "My shot felt good tonight and I just kept shooting. "It's good to beat Clewiston because they beat us last month, but it shouldn't have been this close." ...more

LAKE PLACID — Fort Meade's size was too much for the much smaller Lake Placid girls basketball team to handle on Monday night, as the Green Dragons fell 53-25 to the Miners in a non-district meeting. Fort Meade's inside duo of forward Bette Morris and center Akaycla Robinson — both of whom check in at over six feet — pounded the Green Dragons and gobbled up most of the rebounds on both ends of the court, scoring on countless second-chance opportunities and leading their team to a 32-11 halftime lead. ...more
