After the first cold front of the season passed through the Bay early this month, summer weather returned. The highs were in the low 90s for about a week in mid-October, and that brought the water temperature back up to 89 degrees. That's pretty hot for this time of year. ...more

A precipitous drop in water temperature at the end of last month shut most fishing down for a few days. It was clear and cold for nearly a week, but not cold enough to kill any fish. At least I heard no such reports. The water temperature got as low as 57 degrees in the gulf, but it climbed back to 62 a few days later. If that's winter's best shot, we'll take it. ...more
