Here is a word of warning to the new administration and to all illegals: It would be ill-advised for the new administration to consider pushing for "Comprehensive Immigration." To do so will spark civil unrest, unlike that which America has never seen before. The American worker has been very tolerant for many years with low wages, unfair tax re-distribution, the hiring of illegal workers, the bringing in of guest workers, failing to enforce borders and allowing drugs and illegals from all over the world to enter our nation and the using of tax dollars to offshore American industry. This has caused the entire collapse of the financial system, causing the American worker to lose homes, healthcare and the American dream. This civil unrest could get very ugly. The target of this unrest will be public officials, organizations or anyone who promotes the misuse of our laws, including the illegals themselves. The American worker is "mad as hell" and will not allow this insanity to continue. Let this also be a word of warning to all illegals: the American worker will no longer be mister nice guy. ...more

Everyone has an opinion why the big three automakers are almost bankrupt. To those who think factory workers are overpaid and take the corporate CEO side, you are way off base and wrong. Working class people in factories and other grunt jobs have always been the backbone of this country. Those jobs in the factory were not isolated or held for a chosen few. The only requirement was a high school education, which was often waived, and to pass a physical. ...more

Just about everyone is conflicted on all the bailouts going on these days. Rescuing banks and automakers are sold to the public by telling us about the apocalyptic destruction that doing nothing would spark. So Americans are going deeper in debt, with no end in sight. It's a sickening feeling. ...more

In response to Mr. McAllister's letter of Dec. 9, concerning his father's and brother's wages at G.M. Was there a fairy godmother that paid the several hundred dollars a month for their lucrative Blue Cross benefits? Was there a fairy godmother that paid into a very nice retirement package for each hourly employee? ...more

Enough of this baloney about $75 an hour for auto workers. My father and brother are retired auto workers. They don't make, nor have they ever made, anything close to that kind of a wage. The $75 an hour story has been debunked by the mainstream TV news outlets but newspapers don't investigate and report anymore. They only re-report and the $75 an hour story sells papers. If, as stated, the autoworkers' wages add 10 percent to the cost of an American auto, why do competing Japanese cars cost 10 percent more for comparable American models? ...more
