Nazdar, There will be a musical presentation at 11 a.m. today during service at the First Baptist Church of Masaryktown on Kollar Street and Roosevelt Avenue. The Gulf Ridge Quartet Singers will be singing several Southern Gospel selections. On Sunday, Dec. 21, the church will present its annual Christmas Cantata at the 11 a.m. service. SEBRING — While their families enjoy turkey dinners today, 18 youth from First United Methodist Church are feeding 5,000 people in the Bahamas. Rick Heilig, youth minister, said the feeding of 5,000 is a reference to the Gospel, in which Jesus blessed five loaves of bread and two fish and it fed 5,000 people. The youth will be feeding turkey, ham, rice, green beans and fruit cocktail at various churches and sites throughout Freeport, Bahamas. "This is the first time we have done a feeding, but we felt it was important to focus on food and hunger," Heilig said. ...more

AVON PARK — The Union Congregational Church got their orders prepped Wednesday. On the tables and in the kitchen: 75 large turkeys, 350 pounds of potatoes, 100 cans of cranberries, 102 pies, dozens of industrial-sized cans of sweet corn and about 85 volunteers. It was enough to turn the church's multi-purpose room into something rivaling the mess of Santa's workshop. ...more
