I think the Tampa Theatre and I came into being the same year. Maybe I haven't held up as well, but it still gives me a thrill to go there and sit in the audience waiting for that glorious organ to come rising up from the stage, with the most wonderful music filling the hall. My wife and I have seen the worse drought imaginable in the Las Vegas area. Lake Meade, the prime water supply for approximately 2 million people, has dropped almost 200 feet over the past 10 years. Are you suggesting that all the people that were hired knowing what the pay scales were are inferior employees? Our administrators, sheriff, public works administrators are all inferior because they accepted the pay scales offered to them? When someone applies for a position, the pay scales are presented to them. If they feel it is not enough, then they should seek employment elsewhere. ...more

After reading the article about U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez and his efforts to raise money for the 2010 election, I have come up with a suggestion for him and all other politicians with the same problem. Why don't they just focus on doing a good job now. If they were to do the job of serving the people successfully, then they would be re-elected no matter how much money they have or don't have. All the millions they spend bombarding us with ads filled with lies, mud slinging and empty promises, could then be spent on more important things, like people. ...more
