I would posit that any time we cannot raise the troops to fight a war from our own citizenry, but rather must rely on outside contractors, as we are today, (over 133,000 in Iraq and 71,000 in Afghanistan), then we are in a war in which we should not be involved, since obviously the majority of the American people do not support the effort. It then becomes "their war," that is, those who are fighting it, but not "our war." World War II was "our war." The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has charged the owner of a waste-tire hauling company with illegally dumping about 20,000 to 30,000 tires on property he rents for his business, according to an arrest report. Duane James, 59, of 5212 Lady Rose Court, Lutz, also faces a charge of failing to comply with environmental rules because he didn't have the required permit from the DEP to store more than 1,500 waste tires at the site, the report said. ...more
