LAKE PLACID — Sebring used a swarming defense and an offense that took advantage of its scoring opportunities to beat Lake Placid 3-0 in a non-district boys soccer match on Thursday night at Roger Scarborough Memorial Field. SEBRING — Sebring diver Shaanan Spiegel set a goal for himself before the start of Thursday's Class 2A-District 7 diving meet: Move on. Spiegel, despite some strong competition, made sure he advanced to next week's regional meet by coming through with his best effort of the season. The Blue Streak senior scored a season-best 344.27 points in 11 dives in the 1-meter competition at the Blue Streak pool. ...more

The Bucs faced their first real offensive challenge of the game just three plays into it when they lined up for a third-and-6 play at their 28-yard line. Quarterback Jeff Garcia dropped back to pass, but he never got the time to set up and throw as Dwight Freeney and Raheem Brock came rushing through the right side off a stunt to sack him 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Eight plays later, the Colts were ahead 7-0, the result of a seven-play drive engineered by Peyton Manning.
