OFFERINGS LEADERSHIP TRAINING: Faith Family Outreach Church of Plant City, 1214 W. Reynolds St., Suite 2, is launching a new leadership training program, the Christian Leadership Development Institute, to provide instruction in the basic skills needed for assisting with positions of leadership within ministries. Wow! What a fantastic show. Highlands Little Theatre (HLT) has a real beauty in its current production, "Beauty and the Beast." I took my grandchildren on Nov. 2 for tea and biscuits with Belle. The theater was filled with children and adults meeting the characters, collecting autographs, having their picture taken with Belle and at intermission everyone had a tea party. ...more

Music Opera Lovers Club will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Forest Glen Retirement Community Center, 1431 Friar Tuck Lane, off Osowaw Boulevard, Spring Hill. The program will be "Before the Curtain Rises" by Nicole Benson, opera club member and soprano. Benson has studied vocal performance, with an emphasis in opera, at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and will be presenting a backstage look at what is involved with an opera - from the lighting man to the set designers to the singers themselves.
