TAMPA Police arrested 34-year-old Andres Trujillo on Thursday night, accusing him of breaking into the home of a man who owed the defendant money and choking him. Then, police said, they found three stolen items at Trujillo's home. Trujillo, of 7316 N. Dartmouth St., was initially charged shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday. Police say Trujillo forced his way into the home of a man who owed him money. SEBRING — A Haines City man remained in Highlands County Jail in lieu of $29,750 bond after he was arrested and charged in three separate burglary cases in the Sebring area. Jason Richard Boone, 30, of 280 Dyson Road, arrested on warrants and charged with two counts of burglary of a structure or conveyance, two counts of criminal mischief, two counts of vehicle theft, one count of burglary of a dwelling and one count of petty theft. On May 21, he was extradited from the Polk County Jail to Highlands County. Detectives say that between the hours of 3 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Oct. 20, Boone entered three Sebring properties, one in the 6000 block of North Carolina Drive and two in the 700 and 800 block of Town and Country Boulevard. ...more

AVON PARK — "This week's going to be crazy" said Rebecca Perry as she started reaching into an old tractor's steering column. On and off for the past 11 months after school, four students repainted the tractor's body and bolted on several parts, finding a few hours after school between their studies as well as their "animal" raising. They were almost done Wednesday afternoon, 10 days ahead of next Saturday's tractor ride. Brandon Cooper and Randy Richardson helped connect some wires on the tractor. Perry, with her hands covered in black grease from handling its parts, left to take care of her pigs but shortly came back with her mom, Sally Perry, and two bags of McDonald's food. Sarah Richardson, the group's "historian," was finishing a scrapbook of the project. After all this work, they'll only use the tractor once. ...more

Arson investigators are still on the scene of an early morning bus fire at a church in Riverview. The fire was set about 1:30 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 12842 Balm Riverview Road, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. ...more
