LAKE PLACID — Confusion over which gas station was shut down by state inspectors who found water in the tanks and pumps of a former Shell gas station at the southwest corner of U.S. 27 and State Road 70 has hurt business at the Circle K gas station, which now carries the Shell branding. Tom Eaton, district manager for Circle K, said Wednesday that his business on the northwest corner of the same intersection has been devastated due to customer confusion over where the water gas was located and pumps shut down. ...more

United American Realty, a Tampa-based developer that has built shopping centers throughout Florida, has been planning The Cypress since 2004. On June 3, the Temple Terrace City Council awarded a $3,793.30 commercial facade improvement grant to White and Raymond Proch, co-owners of TWA Firestone Tire, Wheel and Automotive Services at the southwest corner of Busch Boulevard and North 56th Street. That amounts to half the cost of $7,586.60 to remove four sickly oak trees and replace them with four palm trees, as well as adding an assortment of drought-tolerant flowering plants that will front both thoroughfares. ...more
