SEBRING — Ashley Waldon isn't hesitating, and the Sebring volleyball team isn't slowing down for anyone. The senior setter, making her first start since an on-court collision with teammate Anna West sidelined her for the remainder of the regular season, got her bearings back while Sebring got back on track, as the Streaks cruised to a 25-9, 25-6, 25-8 victory over Booker in the opening match of the Class 4A-District 10 volleyball tournament at SHS. "I was definitely a little bit scared when I came back against Lake Placid," said Waldon, who played the final two sets of Sebring's last match of the regular season, a three-set loss to the Class 3A Green Dragons. LAKE PLACID — After a disheartening loss to Avon Park the previous evening, Lake Placid volleyball coach Marilyn Jones called a rare gameday practice on Tuesday to ensure her team wouldn't make similar mistakes against Sebring. The Green Dragons responded by making history. Kristen Massung and Sierra Weaver each had eight kills and Darby Underwood had two aces to lead Lake Placid to its first ever season-sweep of Sebring with a 25-18, 25-20, 25-16 dismantling of the Blue Streaks, who lost to LP in five sets earlier this season. ...more
