First, I will give the current administration the benefit of the doubt. I can overlook the lost evidence and the cases that will subsequently be dropped. A few lucky criminals will get away. I can look past the deceit of the two different reports on the evidence audit. I will also look past the verbal abuse while in uniform of a county commissioner on a darkened parking lot. On Sept. 17, there was a letter admonishing Mayr Malool. I would just like to say that I have read her comments and find them truthful and artfully done. I enjoy reading her comments, as well as others. I keep most letters to re-read as comments warrant. ...more

Research the origins of the proposed new department facilities. You will find that the county commissioners suggested that all government departments bring forth their projected needs for the future and submit expansion possibilities. You will find Susan Benton complied with that request with energy and foresight. Unlike other department heads that will also need expansion for their departments, but haven't taken the time (i.e. extra work,) or used imagination to submit a plan, she did as requested. ...more

AVON PARK — When Mark Sauls first met Brandon Ball, he was just a kid hanging around the Avon Park Firehouse. "I worked with his dad and his grand-dad here," Sauls remembered.
