SEBRING — Everglades Foods Inc., manufacturers of Everglades Seasoning products, announces the creation of two new sauces and a marinade: Everglades Gourmet Steak Sauce, Everglades Gourmet Remoulade Sauce and Everglades Wild Orange Marinade. All three of the new condiments are available at Wal-Mart stores around the state and south Georgia along with the original Everglades Moppin BBQ Sauce. SEBRING – The lengthy process of attracting an industry that will bring high-paying jobs to the region and perhaps attract other businesses is moving along. In April of last year, Sebring Regional Airport and the airport's site emerged as the top location for a Rural Economic Development Catalyst Project in the region. The project, which is a pilot program, will target industries with the goal of creating high value-added jobs, capital investment and an economic ripple throughout each region. The targeted industry areas include life sciences, pharmaceuticals, research and development, orthopedic manufacturers. The South Central Rural Area of Critical Economic Concern includes Highlands, Hardee, Hendry, Glades, DeSoto and Okeechobee counties and the communities of Immokalee, South Bay, Belle Glade and Pahokee. ...more

SEBRING – The U.S. Sport Aviation Expo was established to showcase Light Sport Aircraft, promote the industry and bring business to Sebring Regional Airport and Highlands County. It has accomplished those objectives and – hopefully – will continue to attract companies. A newcomer to the airport is Paradise USA, whose parent is a Brazilian company that has set up its Florida operation in Sebring after having a booth at last year's expo. "We had been looking for a place to establish our base in Florida," said Paulo Oliveira, general manager of Paradise USA. "Why Florida? Because of Florida weather and flying in paradise. The name of our company is Paradise, and I think that has a lot to do with Florida, so I think it fits right in there." A resident of Palm Beach, Oliveira initially looked for hangars in West Palm as well as along the coast. ...more
