LAKE PLACID –– Defending the Class 3A-District 10 championship has been a motivating factor all season for the Lake Placid High School volleyball team. After rolling through the regular season with an impressive 14-3 overall record, including 6-0 in district play, the No. 1 seeded Green Dragons begin defense of their title tonight with a home match against No. 4 seed Mulberry. A win against the Panthers moves Lake Placid into Thursday night's district final against the winner of tonight's other semifinal between No. 2 seed Frostproof and third-seed McKeel Academy. LAKE PLACID –– Looking for improvement. That's what Lake Placid High School volleyball coach Marilyn Jones wants to see from her talented squad with the district tournament only three weeks away. The Green Dragons have had a solid season thus far, posting an impressive 12-5 record, but Jones knows her team hasn't reached its full potential yet and has scheduled some weekend tournaments to compete in. ...more
