Our economy is collapsing around us. We have a spend-thrift, empty suit lawyer in the White House who doesn't have a clue how to fix anything except throw money. Nancy is running the show racking up deficits beyond anyone's imagination with a congress whose religion and ticket to heaven is pork. As the country gallops full tilt to socialism, Highlands Today sees fit to pick on Rush Limbaugh in a full blown editorial piece because he says "whacky" things. Politically, you can agree or disagree with Rush. However, the man should not be demonized because he disagrees with the way our country is being run. Bush's recent presidency brings up an important question. Why do people having the best of intentions make mistakes? I'm sure Bush doesn't have a mean bone in his body, but he has made serious mistakes in judgment throughout his life. Giving up alcohol was his greatest achievement. But it didn't make him either wise or saintly. We all make mistakes in judgment. I believe this is because our negative fearful and angry reactions are not to be trusted. They make us believe we are doing the right thing, but in reality they are the cause of most of our deep-seated personal problems as well as our relationship problems. They also keep us in the dark as to the truth of our own actions. Killing the messenger has yet to go out of style. ...more
