President Obama ordered the detention facility at Guantanamo closed within a year. Prior to the announcement a terrorist known as Said Ali al-Shihri who was released after spending six years inside the U.S. prison camp and is now the number 2 of Yemen's al-Qaeda branch according to a purported internet terror network statement. Although al-Shiri was released in Nov. 2007 and transferred to his homeland, he ended up in Yemen and is now reported to be working for al-Qaeda again. ...more

Mary Malool's letter about Barack Obama gave no sensible or logical reasons why anyone should vote for him. The only qualifications for the presidency listed in the letter were Obama's strength, vitality and intelligence. Personally I can't see the strength, the vitality maybe, and as for intelligence, he reads a teleprompter while reading some other speechwriter's thoughts and words. What weren't listed were Obama's connections with undesirable friends and his close association with ACORN, which is now under investigation for voter registration and fraud. Nothing is said about his inexperience serving only 147 working days in the Senate before announcing his bid for the presidency, and then voting "present" 20 times on issues. Evidently he can't seem to make a simple decision on a "yea or nay" vote. Do we need a person like that in the White House with his hand on the switch or to answer the 2 a.m. phone call? ...more

In response to Marian Perrin's letter and in defense of Jim, Gulledge's letter referring to Sen. Barack Obama being a Muslim. Marian Perrin's wordy biography of Barack Obama life history did nothing to dispute Mr. Gulledge's assertion about Obama, nor did it do anything to show or contain any information about Obama's qualifications to be the President of our country. Obama was elected to the Senate in Illinois, a state that has one of largest populations of Muslims in the country. Add to that the African-American vote in Illinois and you have the real reason why he was elected. On another note it's almost pathetic that the Democratic Party has such a poor choice of candidates for the upcoming election. ...more
