SEBRING — The Nan-Ces-O-Wee Hotel has a new owner, who has plans to revitalize it into a vibrant part of downtown. Jhonson Napoleon, owner of Napoleon Real Estate in Miami, closed Friday on the hotel, located at 139 N. Ridgewood Dr. "I want to make the hotel into a project that will make the city of Sebring proud," Napoleon said. He is already working with an architectural firm in Lakeland on plans for condominiums on the upper floors and a restaurant on the ground level. ...more

AVON PARK — The ground work on an upscale subdivision on Lake Damon should be completed in two weeks, according to a spokeswoman for Berry USA, the contractor developing the Grand Oaks subdivision. Although the actual houses will be built by other developers as the lots are sold, all the underground pipe work was finished for the 126-lot housing development. Work remains on the community pool, the landscaping and the development's recreation area, "and then we're done. It's not a shock by any means that the Pasco County School Board and county commission haven't been able to iron out a new interlocal agreement as part of a state law that takes effect next year tying the approval of new residential development to school capacity. For years, the two governments have been sparring about the same issues and haven't been able to forge an agreement. ...more
