In regard to the recent article in the Tampa Tribune about Sen. Grassley's inquiry into mega churches financial information, you quote Alick Clark, a board member from Without Walls International Church. He states "I'm sorry to see all this happening. How many of these guys would be in ministry if there was no money in it? Not many, I can tell you." That statement says it all! ...more

This is in regard to a letter by Charles J. Guth, who was writing his support of his good friend Dale Leland, charged with molesting a 12-year-old girl. Mr. Guth claims he wishes he could have been in court to support his child molesting friend. I wonder why he wasn't? Apparently, he feels that a sentence of six and a half years is too severe for a charge of stealing a young girl's innocence, causing her to learn some very hard lessons about men way too soon, and suffering untold emotional trauma. He goes on to place the blame on the child for not resisting, intimating that because she was not a "tiny child" she somehow should have known what to do to defend herself from the sexual advances of a grown man. Unbelievable to me. ...more

This letter is in response to Mr. Royce's comments in regard to an appointed superintendent instead of an elected superintendent. By the tone of your comments, Mr. Royce, it sounds as though you might be vying for Wally Cox's job. You are sure quick to give your misinformed opinion. All of Highlands County's schools are not "D" schools. Our school educators and employees take a lot of pride in the hard work it takes to educate this county's children. Frankly, I think people are sick and tired of hearing misinformed people such as yourself spout false accusations. Although Mr. Cox has quite the impressive credentials, excellent reputation, years of experience in the system and apparently the support of Highlands County schools and families, you and your coffee buddy Mr. Tuck sound like two wanna-bes running for the CEO of the Highlands County School District. ...more
