Capitalism vs. Socialism In the paper last week was a guest column written by Eric Veltri which makes it pretty clear that he does not enjoy living in a capitalist nation. In the June 22 edition of Highlands Today there is a letter best described as a diatribe submitted by Jerry Nargelovic. The writer should take time to learn the facts before writing such balderdash and he needs to learn that we cannot become isolated from the rest of the world. The result of the Highlands County Commissioners' meeting on March 2 reflects poorly upon that body.Pettiness and personal vendettas have no place in such a session.To do so poorly serves the citizens of this county. It appears that only Commissioner Bates showed any real business experience and a true understanding of the subject.What is wrong with the Bates approach? Who even knows what the true cost of the sheriff's facilitity is? I am no fan of George W. Bush but I agree with your Dec. 17 editorial. George Bush has made any mistakes during his second term; a term he should never have been re-elected to.
