Tampa Electric and Hillsborough County Schools on Tuesday will launch a pilot program designed to promote energy efficiency to third, fourth and fifth graders through the theater. Stageworks, a professional theater group, will perform Pow!r Play at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Lockhart Elementary School in Tampa, 3719 N. 17th St. The play, which runs through May 2009, is part of a three-year pilot project recently approved by the Florida Public Service Commission, Tampa Electric said. ...more

TAMPA State regulators are expected to decide today whether Tampa Electric Co. and Progress Energy can raise electric bills next year to cover higher costs for oil, natural gas and other fuels used to generate electricity.
