In response to the answer of my last letter written on Oct. 9, where I was offering a basic Spanish course to deputies of Highlands County, and my disappointment with Sheriff Benton when I had to wait five weeks to see her and on the day of the appointment I didn't get to see her anyway, Mayr Malool defended the sheriff by saying that the sheriff was busy trying to catch a cop killer. This is an absolute untruth. I was in Highlands County when that tragedy took place. There was no manhunt going on on the day I was supposed to see the sheriff. I don't know Mayr Malool but I do know that when an officer has four or five illegals stopped at 3 a.m. and they are saying "Jump him-her, grab him-her or grab his-her gun, and the officer doesn't understand these alert words, it is dangerous. ...more

Not only have I served in numerous volunteer capacities, I have also served two terms in a county-wide elected position.
