I agree with Roy Dettwiler's letter published in your Nov.18 edition in that I also believe our country's current problems are largely spiritual. I've recently heard on the news that groups of activists: homosexual, pro-abortion or whoever they are this week, are protesting pro-life teaching or prayer breakfasts in the schools, or a cross on a teacher's wall due to a violation of "separation of church and state." ...more

I find it disheartening how people seem so distrusting of the government when it comes to health care, but love the idea of government intrusion into our daughters' bodies. Pro-abortion advocates want to use government to control what our daughters can and cannot do. I find this despicable. Abortion is a personal matter, not a decision that can be decided by sweeping laws. I want my daughter to be able to make her own decisions. No government official will tell her if she can or cannot have an abortion. To make matters worse, these same people who want government intervention into our daughters' wombs go into a fury when the government tries to make us healthier. ...more

And she would require all illegal aliens to return to their country. But she's not anti-Hispanic. She sponsored a house resolution urging Congress to fund the Indian River Lagoon South Restoration Project, and she supports the Everglades restoration. But she shirks the label "environmentalist."
