A modern-day Tea Party protest overtook downtown Tampa on Wednesday. No one spilled crates of Earl Grey into the already tea-colored bay, but there were a lot of American flags wrapped around shoulders and a few "Don't Tread On Me" flags flying in the breeze. Pasco Republicans and Democrats are butting heads over President Barack Obama's plan for stimulating the economy. Many members of the Spirit of '76 Republican Club recently dressed the part of Revolutionary War-era Americans and held a Tea Party protest against the stimulus package. Oh yes, the temptations are here again. So far in life I have only been penalized a small bit by the temptation of getting into trying to make money with money, much like our government is doing by printing money and giving it to the banks. ...more
