77 years old. The owners on the floor above me installed a washing machine from which suds and water come into my apartment through the wastewater drains. I reported the problem to the manager but nothing has been done to correct the problem. We have laundry rooms in the building but, of course, people prefer to have their own machines. ...more

"Deaf Sentence" by David Lodge is a funny, yet tragic picture, of Desmond's new life learning to cope with insufficient information. An attractive young American graduate student professes she wants his advice on her thesis, but Desmond is not sure that is all she wants. And his inability to communicate rationally gets him into all types of embarrassing social and professional situations.
