SEBRING — A Haines City man remained in Highlands County Jail in lieu of $29,750 bond after he was arrested and charged in three separate burglary cases in the Sebring area. Jason Richard Boone, 30, of 280 Dyson Road, arrested on warrants and charged with two counts of burglary of a structure or conveyance, two counts of criminal mischief, two counts of vehicle theft, one count of burglary of a dwelling and one count of petty theft. On May 21, he was extradited from the Polk County Jail to Highlands County. Detectives say that between the hours of 3 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Oct. 20, Boone entered three Sebring properties, one in the 6000 block of North Carolina Drive and two in the 700 and 800 block of Town and Country Boulevard. ...more

Last week I introduced my readers to what I referred to as "ring rage" that I defined as "how one feels when that little tab on the top of a can separates from the top before the top separates from the can and it takes a pair of pliers to get the top off and juice is spilled all over you in the process." Rage is violent and uncontrollable anger. It goes beyond "What's bothering you?" or pet peeves, which usually invoke such responses as the rolling of one's eyes or audible tsking. But for the sake of this article we'll consider more drastic reactions to certain stimuli as "rages," which hopefully will not progress farther than being imaginary reactions. ...more

It's that time again for some bon mots, or clever remarks, to help usher in the new year. The problem is I can't think of any even though we just stepped over 2008's starting line. When it's time to turn over a new leaf; to make new resolutions; to bury the hatchet; to forgive and forget. Perhaps it's a result of holiday doldrums that I've come up dry this year. The excitement and anticipation winds are out of my sails. I don't even feel like going into a rage over anything, which today seems to be the catchword. As in road rage. Just when I thought every type of occurrence was labeled I read about something that's called "wrap-rage" – the frustration one feels when they can't rescue a product from the stupid package it comes in.
