SEBRING –– After starting the season off struggling to score goals, the Sebring boys soccer team has turned into a veritable scoring machine. The Blue Streaks continued their outstanding recent play on Thursday night, as senior Daniel Grimaldo scored two goals and Nick Peters and Gilberto Santos added a goal to spark a 4-1 win over Palmetto in a key Class 4A-District 10 match at Firemen's Field. "This is one of the best feelings I've had all season," said an elated Grimaldo. "We've come so far and we're a different team from the beginning of the year. "Our defense is anticipating passes and playing great, and our offense is on fire." Sebring, which is unbeaten in its last 10 matches, improved to 10-4-2 overall and 6-1-1, while the Tigers suffered their first district loss and dropped to 10-2-1, 7-1-1. ...more

AVON PARK — The Sebring and Avon Park girls soccer teams left everything on the field, and after 80 minutes, the decision was up in the air, as the Red Devils drew even with the Streaks, 2-2 in a Class 4A-District 10 clash at Joe Franza Stadium on Thursday. "I thought we played a very clean and aggressive game tonight," AP head coach Greg Thacker said. "I was very impressed with our passing and getting the ball in position to score." This game, the first meeting between the two teams since the Nov. 8 match that was marred by an on-field scuffle and suspensions levied against the two involved, was as even as they come. Both teams rallied to the ball, although Sebring seemed to have more left in the tank at the end of the game than their Red Devil counterparts. "We're just going after the ball trying to make things happen," SHS head coach Steve Ashley said. "I give credit to Avon Park. They came out aggressive and we're lucky to come out with a tie." ...more

The Class 3A Green Dragons trailed for most of the match, but refused to quit to improve to 1-4 in District 10 action. "This was a brave win," said Lake Placid coach Josh Virkler. "We were down two goals at two different points in the match, and it would have been easy for the guys to quit because the conditions were pretty severe."
