I would like to commend Bill and Lyn Roche. They head up the Alzheimer's support group that meets at Crown Point Assisting Living Facility on Thursdays at 1 p.m. I was the speaker at the meeting on Thursday, Dec. 6. As a podiatrist I spoke about foot care, but I was very impressed by the way the Roches take "care" of these "caregivers" and the patience they have with the attendees who have Alzheimer's. ...more

In response to the letter in the Oct. 15 letters from Julia Holmes: Dear Julia, I can't begin to tell you the number of times that you brightened my day when I came to the VA clinic, and I know that you went above and beyond many times to help veterans with scheduling problems, or to help them understand the myriad of paperwork. More than once I watched you work your magic as you turned a grumpy old sourpuss back 30 years with a grin on his face, and you did it with patience, some small anecdote, and that engaging smile that none of us could resist.
