Thank you to everyone who contributed to this year's "Soup Up the Arts" fundraiser at Sebring High School. The event was far more successful than the art club could have ever expected. Amazingly, we sold over 500 bowls of soup this year. Thank you to all of the sponsors that made the fundraiser possible. SEBRING — Florida agricultural leaders say the federal government has cleared the state's tomatoes of being the cause of a national food poisoning scare, according to the Associated Press. Amid a salmonella outbreak linked to raw tomatoes, many fast-food chains and grocery stores had removed or stopped selling them altogether the last couple of days. On Tuesday, before this announcement was made, eateries, groceries and consumers were adjusting to a voluntary ban on most fresh tomatoes. ...more

SEBRING — Heartland Workforce will be hosting its second pre-holiday retail hiring event at the Highlands One-Stop Career Center on Monday, Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring a resume and be appropriately dressed to interview for part-time and full-time seasonal work. Sales, customer service, cashier and food service positions will be available.
