I am quite shocked by the fanfare that President-elect Obama has received for his plans for change. Just in the last few days the newspapers have reported the costs of these programs will be upwards of $1 trillion. After nearly eight solid years of Bush-bashing for the outgoing president's spending, how can any self-respecting adult do such an about-face and endorse expenditures of this magnitude and at such a financially insecure point in this nation's history? ...more

Enough of this baloney about $75 an hour for auto workers. My father and brother are retired auto workers. They don't make, nor have they ever made, anything close to that kind of a wage. The $75 an hour story has been debunked by the mainstream TV news outlets but newspapers don't investigate and report anymore. They only re-report and the $75 an hour story sells papers. If, as stated, the autoworkers' wages add 10 percent to the cost of an American auto, why do competing Japanese cars cost 10 percent more for comparable American models? ...more

SEBRING The Sebring Police Department is advising the public to be wary of folks who might approach them and say they have won the Florida lottery. On Wednesday, Officer John Garrison met with a fraud victim, who said she met an unidentified Hispanic male and female at Winn-Dixie.
