In the world of today we rarely hear about the good things but we always hear of the bad things. I would like to report on a Good Samaritan act that I witnessed last week. Jerry Kline, a U.S. Postal worker, who was off duty, came into the office at Tomoka Heights and asked if he might enter into the community. Since Tomoka Heights is a gated community he was asked why and where did he want to go? Upon finding out that he wanted to visit a certain address, he was told that the party was not home and could the office help him. Mr. Kline then told the office that he had found a handbag on U.S. 27 and wanted to return the handbag to the owner. Fortunately the office had been told of the residents' whereabouts and in short order the office was able to make the call to the place of business and report the good news. ...more

My family and I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sebring Animal Hospital. One of our dogs, Little Girl, hurt her leg to the point where she ripped through her Achilles tendon. Dr. Larry Jernigan and all the ladies at his office were so kind and understanding with our situation, that they took Little Girl under their wings and watched over her and nursed her for 38 days. Dr. Larry was so concerned that he decided to keep her there with them so that they could tend to the wound and take care of her dressing so she would heal properly without the risk of infection or more damage. We picked up Little Girl on a Saturday, but unfortunately her tendon did not adhere like we were praying. She lost the use of her hind leg, but she is doing good with her other three. ...more
