Hundreds of thousands of pages of what appear to be voter survey documents were found strewn along a section of Interstate 4 early this morning. The documents were discovered along a quarter-mile stretch of the highway near I-275 and contained names, addresses, phone numbers and party affiliations of Hillsborough County voters. Businesses on Causeway Boulevard are struggling. Customer traffic has plunged at Florida Discount Transmissions and half the usual number of tables are occupied at the Seafood Palace. Small businesses on that three-mile stretch between U.S. 41 and U.S. 301 say the $42.6 million widening of the causeway, now entering its 10th month, is hurting business. Drivers have been doing double-takes along a 12.5-mile stretch of U.S. 92, wondering whether they've witnessed the Sunshine State's version of Alaska's "bridge to nowhere." The boardwalks are part of a multimillion-dollar Florida Department of Transportation project alongside U.S. 92 between Eureka Springs and Thonotosassa roads.
