The great fishing conditions of the last three days now moves off into the nighttime –– literally –– as the daytime majority feeding migration becomes the nighttime majority feeding migration. To replace it is the start of a new daytime feeding migration, which happens at every first-quarter moon event. That will occur tonight at 3:33 a.m. The daytime fishing and angling will suffer somewhat for the next three days. The best period of the day is on the tail end of the remnant of the last feeding migration – 4 to 7 p.m. The morning bite will be weak at best, although the largest fish of each kind are known to ignore what the masses follow as a rule, so there is a remote chance of catching a larger-than-normal fish. ...more

An interesting feature in the online New York Times shows you "What you get for $850,000" or some other amount that seems, in a New York sense anyway, plausible for wealthy second-home buyers. Illustrations of these delicious-looking homes are accompanied by their taxes. Since the cold front came through our area on Thursday night and the temperatures have slightly returned to normal for this time of year, the regular migration bite caused by the lunar cycle is triggering when it should –– starting at 3 a.m., peaking at 5 a.m., and ending at 7 a.m. Each day, this early morning migration starts a half hour later. This means the early morning bite is on full tilt. Bass will be striking anything that moves into their vicinity. The next positive to add to the equation is the fact that bass start spawning soon, and are pre-spawn feeding in preparation for the four- to six-week event. ...more
