Mr Lensis's letter defended Limbaugh's comment that he wants Obama to fail. I'm sorry Mr. Lensis, but no matter how you twist it, how you "rephrase" it, or how people wiggle it around, we all know what Rush said and what he meant. He wanted Obama's policies to fail — which can only mean that the U.S. would go into a depression! And contrary to what you said — I have listened to Rush. I first started listening years ago when he first hit the air waves. Being analytical in nature and a talk radio/news junkie it didn't take long before I noticed that Rush was not quite telling the whole story on many things. He routinely takes statements out of context to push his radical right-wing spin on things. The last straw for me was one lunch hour, on the noon day TV news, I watched a fellow make a statement about something in an interview. Less than an hour later, I heard Rush "quote" this same fellow. Rush left about half the fellow's statement out, which changed the whole meaning. I realized at that point I was being "conned" by Rush. ...more

This letter is to Abie, the person who was disgusted with conservatives. I understand the frustration. Conservatives were extremely slow to realize that the Bush Administration was bad for America. In November, the majority finally opened their eyes, but why did it take so long? Because the GOP's leader Karl Rove knew he could "manipulate" conservatives with a constant stream of "fear" about gays, terrorists, immigration, environmentalists, Roe-Wade, religion and taxes. These extremists knew they could create enough smoke to keep the average conservative distracted from what was really going on in Washington. Conservatives failed to see the dismantling of the Bill of Rights, the industrial war machine's take over of our military and the almost daily immoral or illegal activities of their own party members. Yet, about 11 percent of the conservatives are still so extreme in their views that they never will see the truth. So Abie, don't fear the conservative, fear the extreme 11 percent who say "my party right or wrong." They are not good for America. Let's hope that the future proves "we the people" have learned our lesson. ...more

In response to Mr. McAllister's letter of Dec. 9, concerning his father's and brother's wages at G.M. Was there a fairy godmother that paid into a very nice retirement package for each hourly employee? ...more

Enough of this baloney about $75 an hour for auto workers. My father and brother are retired auto workers. They don't make, nor have they ever made, anything close to that kind of a wage. The $75 an hour story has been debunked by the mainstream TV news outlets but newspapers don't investigate and report anymore. They only re-report and the $75 an hour story sells papers. If, as stated, the autoworkers' wages add 10 percent to the cost of an American auto, why do competing Japanese cars cost 10 percent more for comparable American models? ...more
