A healthy economy is key to America's strength. John McCain has a plan to keep our economy strong. It includes real benefits for the middle-class worker. For example, the elimination of the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) would save 25 million middle class families nearly $60 billion in a single year. McCain would double the personal exemption for dependents from $3,500 to $7,500. McCain would maintain the income and investment tax rates at their current level, which is the key to insuring economic growth of small business and entrepreneurs. McCain would allow for immediate deductions on the purchase of equipment (rather than depreciation over several years.) This will spur new jobs and innovation. Looking to stop the tide of businesses having to outsource their operations, McCain would make the United States the best place to start and run a business and make products by reducing the federal corporate tax rate from 35-25 percent. ...more

Thanks to every Romney supporter for a job well done against huge odds. We are winning. The Rasmussen poll has Mitt 29 percent to McCain 27 percent! I personally chose Mitt Romney because I share his values and beliefs and believe that he is a man of character with superb leadership abilities. Washington does not understand what is involved in running a business, meeting payroll, balancing the checkbook and realizing that in a successful business there are no such things as deficits. ...more

AVON PARK — Ann Romney, the wife of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, is scheduled to be in downtown Sebring at 10 a.m. The public is invited, said Marvin Kahn, who arranged the meeting at Iris & Butterflies, 207 Circle Park Drive. "She specifically asked to meet women who are in business," said Kahn, the Highlands County co-chairman of Mitt Romney for President. Kahn, a Highlands County citrus grove owner, said he got a call last week from the state GOP that Ann Romney might stop in Sebring, so he quickly arranged the visit to the gift shop. ...more

LAKE PLACID — Eight grove owners north of town have banded together in a bid to trade oranges for homes. At Monday's meeting, a professional urban planner presented town council with preliminary plans that call for the eventual construction of 4,600 homes on 1,500 acres. SEBRING — When Jean and Larry Lindemer heard Craig and Mary Romney were coming to town, they gathered up the family photo album. Craig Romney is the son of the presidential candidate from Massachusetts.
