LAKE PLACID — It was a banner night for the Lake Placid volleyball team. The top-seeded Green Dragons stormed back to win the final two games against a tenacious Frostproof squad to win the Class 3A-District 10 championship on Thursday night. Lake Placid, which won the title match by scores of 25-21, 23-25, 20-25, 25-17, 15-11, clinched its third consecutive district title and the championship banner that goes with it. LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid High School girls volleyball team has been focused all season on repeating as Class 3A-District 10 champions and making a return trip to the state playoffs. After dispatching a scrappy Mulberry squad on Tuesday night in the Class 3A-District 10 semifinals by scores of 23-25, 25-13, 25-10, 25-23, the Green Dragons are one step closer to achieving their goal. LAKE PLACID –– Defending the Class 3A-District 10 championship has been a motivating factor all season for the Lake Placid High School volleyball team. After rolling through the regular season with an impressive 14-3 overall record, including 6-0 in district play, the No. 1 seeded Green Dragons begin defense of their title tonight with a home match against No. 4 seed Mulberry. A win against the Panthers moves Lake Placid into Thursday night's district final against the winner of tonight's other semifinal between No. 2 seed Frostproof and third-seed McKeel Academy. LAKE PLACID — After a disheartening loss to Avon Park the previous evening, Lake Placid volleyball coach Marilyn Jones called a rare gameday practice on Tuesday to ensure her team wouldn't make similar mistakes against Sebring. The Green Dragons responded by making history. Kristen Massung and Sierra Weaver each had eight kills and Darby Underwood had two aces to lead Lake Placid to its first ever season-sweep of Sebring with a 25-18, 25-20, 25-16 dismantling of the Blue Streaks, who lost to LP in five sets earlier this season. ...more

SEBRING –– Its cool to be green. Time for the Green Dragon fans in Lake Placid to rejoice and wear your green with pride. The 3A Green Dragon girls volleyball team pulled off a stunning upset over the highly touted Sebring Blue Streaks in a five-set battle that came down to who wanted it more on Tuesday night.
