With regards to Keith Bricklemyer's (a land use attorney) comments in "Wetlands Division A Redundancy" (Views, March 21): It was Shakespeare who once wrote those immortal words, "The lady doth protest too much, methinks." Has anyone ever noticed the overwhelming majority of those who write in protest about the Environmental Protection Commission are developers, land use attorneys, and those individuals with large parcels of land that just happen to be predominately composed of wetlands, not uplands? ...more

Pertaining to the ditch cleaning dirt along the roads and highways of Highlands County. They used to give that dirt to the residents here in the area to fill in low spots in their yards, but now, because of someone's bright idea, they have the Road and Bridge Department drive 20-30 miles round trip to dump it in the landfill. Doesn't this practice fill up they landfill much quicker and cost the residents of Highlands County thousands of dollars more in fuel costs and man hours, trucking this dirt all the way out to the landfill?
