I hate to pop the bubble of the person who tossed out the overestimation of people attending the Sebring tea party, but I was there that afternoon too, but not for the political rally. It was my observation that the bulk of the people were there for the "scheduled" monthly car show as well as the "scheduled" popular talent contest that this rally disrupted. The number of people attending the rally was obviously much smaller than stated. As I walked around, people voluntarily offered these comments: From a nurse: "They are so negative." From a retiree: … "these people just hate anything Obama…" From a retired military person: "These people don't know how good a country we live in." ...more

Reading the letter from Betty Prescott in the Nov. 4 edition of the Highlands Today only increased my feeling of gloom and despair about the way our country is speedily heading down the drain. I had heard the news about no Social Security increase for 2010. In the very next story, it was reported that Brother Obama has plans to send $7.5 billion in aid to Pakistan. ...more

After reading about the shootings at Fort Hood, my concerns about the security of this country cranked up a notch or two. Our families and friends in Massachusetts have never liked the "cruel" marks that Sen. Ted Kennedy left on the sands of time. ...more

What fun. We took our grandkids to Lakeside Stables in Spring Lake on U.S. 98 by Arbuckle Creek. We went horseback riding on one of five nature trails. A new colt was hilarious as she zoomed around a pen. "Sam" the monkey, llamas, ducks and other animals greeted us along with the friendly staff. It is a great place to visit as you can camp, canoe, fish and ride horses. It's a treasure in our midst. ...more
