SEBRING –– Playing as a well-honed team, the talented duo of Blake Liles and Vince Liles carded five birdies en route to a 76 to win the Boys First Flight in Sunday's Sertoma Junior Golf Tour's adult/child tournament. The opening event of the Sertoma Junior Tour's summer season attracted a field of 82 players, who competed in an alternate-shot format over 18 holes of the demanding Turtle Run course at Sun 'N Lake Country Club. Placing second in the First Flight was the duo of Russ Rudd and Clay Davis with a 78, while Joel Walkup and Colin Walkup came in third with an 83. Zach Walkup and Aaron Walkup finished fourth with an 86, and Jason Silva and Kim Darrow claimed fifth with an 89. ...more

SEBRING –– With a foursome comprised of some of the finest shot-makers in the Heartland, the multi-talented team of Grover Crawford, Mike Browning, Rene Brown and Vince Liles shot a 17-under-par 55 to run away with first place in the Championship Flight of the Blue Streak Classic golf tournament on Saturday. The 25th annual event attracted a field of 116 players, who competed in a four-person scramble format over 18 holes of the par-72 Turtle Run course at Sun 'N Lake Country Club. AVON PARK –– Putting a team together for a scramble golf tournament is something of a science in itself. A combination of a long hitter, solid iron play and a good putter usually provides for a competitive foursome. That's what the talented team of James Lizotte, Pete DuPriest, Jerome Bovve and Phil Simonson had, as they finished with a 57 to win the Championship Flight in Saturday's Sebring Noon Kiwanis Club's 24th annual Kiwanis Charities Golf Classic at Highlands Ridge North. The popular tournament attracted a field of 108 golfers who participated in a four-person scramble format.
