It was the seventh inning of Andrews Allstate Insurance game with Royal Palms when tragedy struck. One of Allstate's players, Jim Larnard, was stricken and rushed to the hospital, but was gone. Thank you to those who worked with him until the ambulances came. ...more

The Sebring Senior Softball League at Highlands County Sports Complex Tuesday, March 10, felt the results of the time change and the placement of the ultra bright morning sun. There were fewer than usual game comments from the managers about their teams activities. For one reason, in the outfield the players heard the ball drop in front of them before their glove-shaded eyes could see it. On other fields the batters were the ones hampered by the sun. ...more

In response to Marian Perrin's letter and in defense of Jim, Gulledge's letter referring to Sen. Barack Obama being a Muslim. Marian Perrin's wordy biography of Barack Obama life history did nothing to dispute Mr. Gulledge's assertion about Obama, nor did it do anything to show or contain any information about Obama's qualifications to be the President of our country. Obama was elected to the Senate in Illinois, a state that has one of largest populations of Muslims in the country. Add to that the African-American vote in Illinois and you have the real reason why he was elected. On another note it's almost pathetic that the Democratic Party has such a poor choice of candidates for the upcoming election. ...more

Anyone who refused to say yes to Bush's demands was fired, or resigned rather than be a part of this administration's insanity. ...more
