Today I received a letter from someone who calls herself Abbie. I believe this is the second letter I've gotten from the mysterious Abbie. I suppose Abbie was upset about something I wrote to the Editor. At any rate, Abbie didn't bother to give me her return address; perhaps she had not the courage to do so. Turning to the phone directory I could find no such person listed. As someone said long ago, "I don't believe there is such a person." ...more

A five-day effort by law enforcement to target fugitive aliens has resulted in 110 arrests, including 11 in Tampa. The operation was organized by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, and was aimed at illegal immigrants who ignored orders to leave the country. Of the 110 arrested, 81 fell under that category; the remaining 29 had other immigration violations. ...more

In its final weeks, the Bush administration will revive a stalled crackdown on U.S. companies that hire illegal immigrants, issuing a new regulation and asking a federal judge to lift a ban on the measure. The latest Rasmussen tracking poll finds that 9 percent of the public thinks Congress is doing a good job. Fifty-two percent think Congress is doing a poor job. The leader of the House is Nancy Pelosi from San Francisco, the most politically strange city in America. Our congressman Tim Mahoney is part of that majority.
