We have had a fire so hot, so big, it lit up Sebring on the dark night. Our business turned into a frantic fight to save the buildings that were not being burnt up by this fierce fire. The Sebring firefighters risked life and limb to keep the fire from spreading and putting us out of business. If it wasn't for the fine supervision of the brave men fighting a very frightening fire, our business would have been completely destroyed. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts. The truth is, most state songs are wretched anyhow, so Florida's new song won't stand out any more than the bulk of them. In fact, with any luck by this summer it will have disappeared into the kudzu outside of Tallahassee, another bad idea from the same state that once changed the name of mullet to "Lisa" to make it sound more appealing. This is a thank you to all members and guests of VFW Post 4300. On Dec. 16 they held a benefit for my great grandson, Hayden Hunt. Hayden's mom, Jamie, my granddaughter, was killed in a tragic auto accident in Illinois on Oct. 19. Being the great Post that it is, they got together and put on a benefit for Hayden's education fund. They had an auction and 50-50, donated music by Frank-E and Billy Glades, and of course, lots of food. My family, 11 of them, flew from Illinois for the weekend and they were all overwhelmed by the turnout. It really was awesome. ...more
