LAKE PLACID — An exciting season of blocks, sets and spikes came to an end for the Lake Placid volleyball team on Tuesday night. The Green Dragons played well, but ultimately the height and firepower of John Carroll (Fort Pierce) proved too much, as the Golden Rams swept past Lake Placid, 25-16, 25-16, 25-15 in a Class 3A regional quarterfinal match. "I'm proud of the girls because they played hard every point and gave it all they had," Green Dragon coach Marilyn Jones said. AVON PARK — Danielle Tomlinson's temper didn't get the best of her. Instead, it may have gotten the best out of her. The Avon Park junior, whose self-described "really bad" passing early in Monday's match somehow spurred the rest of her game on, had four kills and four aces to lead the Red Devils to a three-set sweep of Clewiston, 25-18, 25-18, 25-19. ...more
