This is as close as a rivalry can get. Evan Lysacek won his second straight title at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships on Sunday, despite finishing with the same score as Johnny Weir. The two - who have combined to win the last five U.S. crowns - both finished with 244.77 points. But Lysacek won the free skate, 162.72 to 161.37, and that's the tiebreaker. ...more

Aw, shucks! Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto took a big step toward a record-tying fifth title at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships on Thursday night, winning the original dance. But Agosto was annoyed when he came off the ice, unhappy with himself for an obvious footwork error at the end of the program. ...more

LAKE PLACID — Goalies are often across the field when their teams score and usually miss out on the celebration. But in her last game at home, Lake Placid senior keeper Sydney Stewart got a little taste of what it was like to battle for position and see the ball hit the back of the net after she scored two goals within two minutes in the second half of the Green Dragons 6-0 victory over cross-county rival Avon Park at Roger Scarborough Stadium on Thursday. "This was the most amazing moment of my soccer career," Stewart said. "I'm still in disbelief. I wanted to score at least one goal before my career was done and God gave me two of them." Stewart's first goal came moments into the second half, when a pass from Erica Resendiz found her in single coverage.
