Chamberlain junior and star defensive tackle Eric Hammond has withdrawn from the high school, Chamberlain athletic director Richard Scionti confirmed. Scionti said Hammond, a 6-foot-4, 310 pound tackle, withdrew on Tuesday. Hammond is the second standout recruit to leave Chamberlain this spring. On April 4, 25 students from St. John's Episcopal Parish Day School traveled to Orlando to participate in the Florida State Latin Forum, sponsored by the Florida Junior Classical League. The students competed in academic, creative and athletic competitions and were ranked by their performance against other middle or junior division schools throughout the state. St. John's students excelled in academic tests such as grammar, vocabulary and mythology; they took the top awards in several creative contests, including pottery and mosaics; and they won athletic awards during the Romapalooza portion of the three-day event. ...more
