SEBRING –– Tampa Sickles outfielder Kenny Wilson scored four runs and Tampa King's Sean Buckley had a key two-run double to lead the West All-Stars to a 15-6 win over the North All-Stars in the championship game of the 30th annual Florida Athletic Coaches Association Baseball Classic on Saturday at a sweltering Firemen's Field. Wilson, who played a flawless center field, drew a pair of walks and reached on one of four North errors to spark the West offense, which banged out 15 hits off five North hurlers. "It's an honor to be selected to play in this series and it was great to be able to represent the west coast of Florida," said Wilson, who has signed a scholarship with the University of Florida. Every year the American Cancer Society invites cancer survivors to their "Relay For Life." I attended the one on April 26 in Sebring at Firemen's Field. This year all the volunteers and businesses outdid themselves. They must have put in long hours to do such a great job. ...more

SEBRING — The fans filled the stands and the waves of cheers charged the night air at Firemen's Field on Friday night, and with the season on the line, Sebring's Steven Fortner didn't disappoint. "All night," said Fortner from the moment he stepped into the dugout. "I'm feeling it tonight." The Blue Streak senior pitched a complete game shutout in front of some outstanding defensive plays from his teammates, as Sebring bounced the Bartow 2-0 in the Class 4A regional semifinals.
