The good Samaritan who offered to pay for the surgery of a dog that may have been attacked by an alligator last week will adopt the dog this afternoon. I would bet that there are very few who would complain about the nightly rain we have been receiving the past week. I have just finished checking the water level and found that Lake Grassy has risen almost eight inches in the past week. At this rate of eight inches of rain every day for a week, we need at least five solid weeks of everyday downpours to fill Lake Grassy, which is still about 40 inches low. ...more

We have entered into the time of year when the majority feeding migration occurs during the night. The new and full moon events happen either very late or early in the day — this means daytime fishing decreases in intensity unless the weather conditions trump the lunar cycle. However, the season of the "early morning bite" starts whenever there is an early morning full or new moon, which happens to be the case tomorrow when the new moon occurs at 5:01 a.m. So, get out on the water as soon as possible because at safe light the "big fish" is on and should be all week. ...more
