SEBRING — A total of 26 federal agencies annually offer more than 1,000 grant programs in various categories and maneuvering through the process may be difficult and confusing. Congressman Tim Mahoney's office wants to help people get through the maze. Mahoney's office and the Highlands County Economic Development Commission are co-hosting a workshop from 10 a.m. – noon Wednesday, July 9 at the Sebring Civic Center. SEBRING — A business that has been operating in Highlands County for just two years and another that has been around much longer – more than 50 years – were recognized during the Highlands County Business Development Day breakfast on Friday at Inn on the Lakes in Sebring. Does the new bio-fuel plant they want to build in Venus use magic to turn sweet sorghum into ethanol? According to Bradley Krohn, this proposed plant will discharge "zero waste," make no noise, have no odor, use zero fossil fuels, and won't even discharge effluent from the bathrooms.
