Some questions I would like someone to explain to me why we are still in Iraq. President Bush told us it was to remove a human rights-violating dictator and to destroy his weapons of mass destruction. The dictator is dead. No WMDs were found. But we are still there. Obama promised change but has not delivered. ...more

I do not know what President Obama is thinking; he is not thinking of the American people, he just wants to be a dictator, like we are just going to do what he says. We the Americans do not work like that; we have to think about home health care, not rush into it. It is a big decision and now he wants an answer by the end of the year, still dictating; are we a free country or what? ...more

A government of the people, for the people and by the people. We are no longer a democratic government. Somewhere along the line, we have a dictator type of rule, where those we have elected, "our employees," have taken control. ...more

George Bush has been in office for seven and a half years. The first six the economy was fine. Okay, he's president but he is not the dictator of what occurs in the U.S.A. We have a "checks and balance" system: Congress, Supreme Court, president. A little over a year ago, consumer confidence stood at a two and a half percent higher, regular gas sold for $2.19 a gallon, the unemployment rate was 4.5 percent, the Dow Jones hit a record high of 14,000-plus, Americans were buying new cars, taking cruises, vacations overseas and living large. But, America wanted change, so in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress and yes, we got change all right! In the past year consumer confidence has plummeted, gas is now over $4 a gallon and climbing, unemployment is up to 5.5 percent (10 percent increase,) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 trillion and prices are still dropping. One percent of American homes are in foreclosure, the Dow is probing another low, and $2.5 trillion has evaporated from their stocks, bonds and mutual funds investment portfolios. Yes, in 2006 American voted for change and we sure got it. ...more

Fidel Castro said Friday that he made the right call when he called it quits, and he is exhausted and overdue for a vacation. But the old man can't put away his pen just yet, not when U.S. presidential candidates are one-upping each other to show who's toughest on Cuba. ...more

I read an article by Marsha Mercer in the Feb. 10 paper about the Clintons that raised the proverbial red flag of caution for me. First, Mercer makes mention of the fact that the Clintons are stonewalling any and all attempts to release any papers from the Clinton Presidential Library, notably the notes, memos and appointment calendar of Hillary while she was first lady. What are the Clintons afraid of that they do not want people to know about her? Secondly, Mercer mentions Hillary's strong desire for universal health care. The thing that got my attention about this subject was, quote, "Hillary's health care plan forces everyone to buy insurance even if they could not afford it." Hillary has said that her administration might garnishee the wages of those who could afford to buy health care insurance but refused to. ...more
