SEBRING — Since Washington Heights got a $1.3-million sprucing-up, soaring expectations by some suggest a brighter future for the struggling neighborhood. Antoine Lenton, 27, was putting the finishing touches on the streetscapes project Monday. The lifelong Washington Heights resident said it felt good to work on the neighborhood project where he grew up. "I'm glad to be on the job and give back to the community," said Lenton. Nazdar, It will be chili in June at the Republican Candidate Chili Cookoff. Come vote for your favorite chili, cooked by our candidate "chefs." This is a way to celebrate our candidates that have qualified to be on the ballot in August. Ballots will be given out at the door, so you can vote for your favorite chili. There will be Polka music, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle and lots of fun. This is a good way to meet your candidates. Refreshments and food available will be available at the event, which will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 20, at the Masaryktown Community Hall on Lincoln Avenue.
