AVON PARK –– Kelly Bass just can't serve without taking a short walk. An service-line stroll, to be exact. "I've heard I take eight steps," said Bass, who picked up the unusual serving technique while playing on a smaller club-volleyball court. "I'm used to it, and now, I feel like if I don't take those eight steps, it won't go over." Bass won't be the only Red Devil volleyball player looking to take a few extra steps tonight: Avon Park opens its postseason at 6 p.m. against Palmetto at Sebring High School in a match-up of Class 4A-District 10's fourth and fifth seeds. AVON PARK — Danielle Tomlinson's temper didn't get the best of her. Instead, it may have gotten the best out of her.
